The Successes Through Lock down – New build aftercare Specialist

11th August 2021 – Newbuild aftercare specialists A and S Contractors talk about the succession they have gained through Covid, despite the pandemic and their plans for the business moving forward.

It is fair to say the last 18 months have been a challenging time for all business across to the world, but here at A & S we like to focus on the positives we have achieved despite the hurdles that have been put in front of us.

Being the UK’s leading new build aftercare company, it was imperative for us when the first initial lockdown hit, we implemented all the correct policies and procedures to ensure the safety of our employees, customers, and clients. Although the decrease in work and restriction of access into properties we are proud to say we have continued to work and push through out. Assisting our key workings and emergency call outs.

With Covid cases rapidly increasing we introduced a new contactless sign of system for our customers to ensure a 2m distance was always kept, as well as enabling us to complete jobs in a professional manner with appropriate sign off.

As a company we invested in COVID safe PPE equipment for all our of employees as well as setting our internal team to work from home.

At A and S we are all about internal progression and employee support and despite of the pandemic we continued to push our work force resulting in 6 internal promotions, in turn requiring a large requirement drive.

We now have a 30% increase of technicians on site, to ensure our standard of customer service and quality to kept to our high standards at all times and supporting our clients through any requirements they may have.

Because of our success and determination throughout we have now invested in a fleet of 50 new vehicles, new uniform, high tech CRM system and new PDA’s. These investments have assisted in the expansion of our Northeast and west midlands region enabling us to recruit a new director whom which we know will continue our success in the North East.

Customer service has always and will always be our main focus within the company and having the reputation we do; we are now proud to work with an additional 6 new clients that have come on board with us and maintaining the excellent relationship with all existing clients.

As a company we are excited to see what the next 12 months bring for us and continuously push to progress and maintain the excellent reputation we carry across the UK.

30TH JUNE 2021 – AFTER-CARE SPECIALIST A&S CONTRACTORS HAVE TURNED TO THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE THE MANAGEMENT OF ITS NATIONWIDE WORKFORCE OPERATION.

The rollout of a 5 in 1 BigChange mobile resource management system, which sees 65 technicians equipped with rugged tablets, is boosting customer service and efficiencies on-site with productivity gains of 20 percent.

Established just 7 years A&S Contractors has become a leading player in the fast-growing market for new build after-care.  The company works with major housebuilders, such as Taylor Wimpey, Countryside, Bellway, Vistry, and McCarthy & Stone.  A&S employs multi-skilled and specialist trade teams to work alongside the customer service and construction departments, carrying out NHBC remedial claims, assisting with high volume build programs, remedial repairs, and providing a technical report facility.

Providing a single cloud platform for CRM, job scheduling, mobile app, vehicle tracking, and customer portal, BigChange provides A&S with real-time 24/7 visibility of operations, improved control, customer service, and productivity. BigChange, which replaces a previous workforce management system, also links seamlessly with Sage accounts.

A&S employs 65 mobile technicians able to deal with mechanical, electrical, gas, assisting their technicians covering all other building trades. The company sets itself apart in the market by being able to provide a turnkey operation.

With a head office near Chester, the company has expanded from the North West to the North East and to the Midlands, recently opening a new office and national training centre in Market Drayton.  BigChange is having the most impact on the mobile workforce and fleet operations, improving job scheduling, resource allocation, health and safety, and productivity, as well as reducing mileage.

Using the BigChange mobile app, engineers manage all work on-site aided by on-screen workflows to ensure all the correct procedures are followed and information recorded.  It is completely paperless and job cards are completed with accompanying on-site photographs, generating contra-charge reports at the click of a button. BigChange also has fully integrated vehicle tracking, providing time and location data, routing, customer ETA alerts, and driver performance reporting.

A&S is very enthusiastic about the BigChange customer portal facility, which will allow its customers to book jobs and access all information on their jobs.  The system is also being used to overhaul stock management, with real-time stock control and replenishment enabling increased stock on vans and the ordering of parts and materials by engineers via their tablets, again increasing on-site productivity.

New Health and Safety Accreditation for A&S

A&S Contractors have added SAFEMARK to the list of trade and Health & Safety accreditations, allowing us to work even closer with the NHBC and national house builders throughout the country.

Safemark is a pre-qualification assessment scheme that is Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) member-assessed.

This means that contractors with Safemark have been assessed and confirmed by an SSIP forum member as meeting acceptable health and safety standards.

The installation of new software has cemented A&S Contractors’ place in the Aftercare Maintenance Market of the new build sector.

Existing and new clients are now able to track orders and customer responses on a daily basis, giving live updates and locations of the on-site technicians along with completed and on-going reports.

Secured clients now brings six of the top 10 house builders in the UK to utilise A&S Contractors’ experience within this sector.
